Brother of provincial minister killed in Lahore firing

LAHORE: Mubashir Khokhar, brother of Asad Khokhar who is member of Usman Buzdar’s cabinet died in indiscriminate firing at a valima reception of Asad Khokhar’s son in Lahore on Friday evening.

According to the police, Mubashir Khokhar, was recieving guests of valima reception when armed men of Karamat Khokhar group opened firing at the gathering, seriously injuring him and at least three other guests.

The police said Mubashir Khokhar was shifted to a private hospital in Lahore in critical condition where he succumbed to injuries.

The police added that the firing incident was a result of old enemity between two groups of the Khokhar family and the alledged attackers were from Karamat Khokhar group.

Chief minister Punjab , Sardar Usman was also among the guests of valima reception of Asad Khokhar’s son.

Shabaz Gul told media channels after the firing incident that chief minister Punjab, Sardar Usman, was present at the valima reception when the attackers opened fire at the gathering. He, however, confirmed that the chief minister Punjab was now at his official residence in Lahore and he is absolutely safe and sound.

He said ” I spoke to Sardar Usman sahib on phone after the firing incident and by the grace of God he is safe and sound”.

Karamat Khokhar group and Asad Khokhar group have long history of dreadful enemity.

Both groups are cousins and they attack each other on marriage or valima day.

A few years ago, Asad Khokhar group had killed 8 people of Karamat Khokhar at a valima reception in the same style.
