ISLAMABAD: The Cabinet Committee on State-Owned Enterprises (CCoSOEs) has approved the proposal to designate the National Disaster Risk Management Fund (NDRMF) as an essential State-Owned Enterprise (SOE) under Paragraph 9 of the SOEs (Ownership and Management) Policy, 2023.
The decision came during a meeting chaired by Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb.
The committee reviewed a proposal from the Ministry of Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives to categorize the NDRMF, a non-profit public entity working to strengthen the country’s resilience to natural disasters, as a strategic SOE.
Following thorough deliberations, the committee approved the proposal, recognizing the NDRMF’s vital role in disaster management and response.
Additionally, the committee examined and approved two separate proposals from the Industries and Production Division regarding appointments to the Board of Directors of the Pakistan Industrial Development Corporation (PIDC) and the Pakistan Steel Fabricating Company Limited.
