Islamabad: In a significant step toward improving Islamabad’s emergency and disaster response capabilities, Chairman CDA and Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Muhammad Ali Randhawa, handed over a state-of-the-art fire tender vehicle to the Islamabad Fire Service. The new vehicle, also referred to as a fire truck or fire engine, is equipped to carry firefighting personnel, equipment, and water to combat fires and manage emergencies.
The official handover ceremony was held at the CDA Headquarters on Wednesday and was attended by Member Administration, Member Planning, officials from the Building Control Section, Emergency and Disaster Management Directorate, and other senior CDA officers.
The fire tender was donated by the Pakistan Telecommunication Employees Trust (PTET) through special efforts by the Director General of CDA’s Building Control Wing. This addition aims to strengthen the capabilities of the Emergency and Disaster Management Directorate in handling fire and rescue situations across the capital.
The newly acquired fire tender is a 12-wheeled vehicle with a 4×4 drive system and enhanced operational capabilities. It was obtained from a private building management entity with support from CDA’s Building and Housing Wing. The vehicle was formally handed over to the Emergency and Disaster Management Directorate during the ceremony.
Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa praised the efforts of the BCS and the Emergency and Disaster Management team, stating that this addition to CDA’s fleet marks a vital step toward ensuring rapid and effective response to fire-related incidents in Islamabad. He reiterated CDA’s commitment to leveraging all available resources to modernize emergency services and enhance public safety.
The advanced fire tender is expected to significantly boost firefighting and rescue operations, particularly in urban, suburban, and challenging terrains, thereby improving the efficiency and reach of emergency services in Islamabad.
