CDWP okays 7 projects including PM programmes on Hepatitis, Diabet

CDWP approved the program namely “Prime Minister’s Programme for the Elimination of Hepatitis C Infection”

ISLAMABAD (Newsman): The Central Development Working Party (CDWP) has approved 7 development projects worth of Rs. 559.766 billion including Hepatitis C and Diabetes related PM programs.
The Federal Minister and Deputy Chairman Planning Commission Ahsan Iqbal has chaired the CDWP meeting.

The CDWP approved the program namely “Prime Minister’s Programme for the Elimination of Hepatitis C Infection”.

The meeting has approved an overall cost of the programme Rs. 67.77 billion and recommended to the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) for final approval.

The project is designed with a 51% federal share and a 49% provincial share, to screen, test and treat 50% of the eligible population (82.5 million individuals aged 12 and above) for Hepatitis C.

The govt has a plan to conduct rapid screening tests, PCR testing, and a 12-week oral treatment regimen for affected individuals through the programm.

The Federation will supply 100% of the Rapid Diagnostic Test kits for screening, 30% of the PCR testing supplies, and 50% of the medicines required for treatment.

The Federal govt will provide these facilities subject to meeting specific Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) by provinces.. The Federal Government will establish a Project Management Unit (PMU) to ensure the successful implementation of the program.

The Prime Minister will also preside the National Task Force (NTF) to monitor the efforts to eliminate. he also oversees the work develop a national communication strategy for raising awareness.

The meeting has also approved “Prime Minister’s Program for Prevention and Control of Diabetes Mellitus” and recommended to the ECNEC.

It has approved the total cost of the program worth Rs. 6.8 billion. Under the project, the govt wants to prevention, diagnosis and treatment of Diabetes through awareness, advocacy, & communication, diagnosis at PHC facilities and referral for treatment at THQ/DHQ facilities.

The meeting has also considered and approved project namely “Flood Response Emergency Housing Project Phase-I (2nd Revision)” worth Rs. 447 billion.

The Forum recommended the project to ECNEC for final approval. The World Bank will finance the proposed project.

Through the project, the govt has a plan to support the flood affected people of Sindh Province for reconstruct their houses in selected communities affected by the 2022 floods in the province,

The CDWP okayed project namely “CAREC Corridor Development Investment Program Tranche-I.

The govt will complete Petaro – Sehwan Road Section 130.37 Km, Ratodero – Shikharpur Road Section 44.40 Km, Rehabilitation of Darra Adam Khel-Peshawar Road Section 34.35 Km (Total 209.12 Km) (Revised)”.

The Forum has estimated the overall cost of the project around Rs. 29.966 billion. Sindh Govt, ADB and Federal Govt will finance to the project. under the project, the agency construct the bridges, underpasses, cattle creeps, box & pipe culverts, retaining walls, drainages, erosion & and cillary works along with allied facilities.
