Chaman Railway crossing blast: Cowardly terror attacks cannot lower nation’s morals : Samina Mumtaz Zehri

QUETTA/ ISLAMABAD: The blast at the Chaman Railway Crossing area in Quetta has once again sent a wave of anxiety across the country. Reacting strongly to this tragic incident, Senator Samina Mumtaz Zehri, Chairperson of the Senate Standing Committee on Human Rights, condemned the attack in the strongest possible terms. She stated that elements playing with the lives of innocent citizens deserve no leniency, and there is a critical need to deal with such terrorists with an iron fist.
In her statement, Senator Samina Mumtaz Zehri said that the blast at the Chaman Railway Crossing is not only a criminal act but also a nefarious attempt to spread fear and panic throughout society. She noted that terrorist elements are trying to sabotage the country’s peace and break the public’s morale; however, the nation will not be intimidated by such cowardly attacks.
She further emphasized that Pakistan has been fighting the war against terrorism for several decades, a conflict in which the public, security agencies, and law enforcement personnel have made countless sacrifices. Enemy forces wish to damage Pakistan’s peace and stability through such attacks, but the entire nation will stand united to counter these conspiracies.

The Chairperson of the Human Rights Committee added that the loss of human life is an unbearable tragedy for any civilized society. Targeting innocent civilians in the Chaman Railway Crossing blast is the worst example of enmity against humanity. She remarked that such elements are not only criminals in the eyes of the law but are also enemies of mankind.

Senator Samina Mumtaz Zehri prayed for the high ranks and forgiveness of those martyred in the incident, as well as for the patience and fortitude of the bereaved families. She stated that the entire nation stands with the affected families in this difficult hour, sharing equally in their grief. Expressing her best wishes for the quick recovery of the injured, she urged the government to provide them with the best possible medical facilities.

She stressed that mere statements are not enough to deal with incidents of terrorism; practical steps are required. The relevant institutions must ensure an immediate and transparent investigation into the incident so that the actual facts come to light and the elements involved in this heinous crime can be unmasked.

Senator Samina Mumtaz Zehri asserted that it is the responsibility of law enforcement agencies to immediately arrest the terrorists and their facilitators, bringing them to justice to face exemplary punishment so that no one dares to play with the country’s peace in the future.
She remarked that the primary responsibility of the state is to protect the lives and property of its citizens, and there should be no compromise on this matter. If the public feels unsafe, it not only creates social unrest but also affects the process of national development. Therefore, it is essential for the government and security agencies to adopt a more effective strategy to ensure public safety.

The Chairperson of the Human Rights Committee noted that Balochistan—particularly Quetta and its surrounding areas—has witnessed several incidents of terrorism in the past, targeting innocent citizens, security personnel, and government installations. Such incidents demand that security measures in these areas be tightened further and the intelligence network be made more effective.

She said that terrorism is not just a security issue but also a social and humanitarian one. When innocent people become targets of terrorism, the entire society suffers from a sense of insecurity. Fear is instilled among children, women, and the elderly, and daily life is disrupted. This is why national unity and a coordinated strategy are indispensable for the eradication of terrorism.
On this occasion, Senator Samina Mumtaz Zehri also urged political and social leadership to unite on one page against terrorism to serve the national interest. She said the country currently needs unity, harmony, and mutual cooperation to defeat the nefarious designs of the enemy.

She appealed to the media to play a responsible role, stating that when reporting on incidents of terrorism, they should promote national unity and morale instead of spreading fear and panic among the public. The media can play a vital role in awakening public awareness and strengthening the national narrative against terrorism.
The Chairperson of the Human Rights Committee stated that the protection of human rights demands providing a peaceful and secure environment for every citizen. If people are not satisfied regarding the safety of their lives and property, guaranteeing human rights in the true sense remains impossible. Therefore, the government must formulate a comprehensive policy to eliminate terrorism and ensure its strict implementation.
She added that the war against terrorism is not the responsibility of security agencies alone but a collective responsibility of the entire nation. The public should also keep an eye on suspicious activities and cooperate with law enforcement agencies to foil the designs of anti-state elements in a timely manner.

Senator Samina Mumtaz Zehri expressed hope that the elements involved in the Chaman Railway Crossing blast would soon be gripped by the law and justice would be delivered to the affected families. She concluded by saying that the Pakistani nation has always shown steadfastness in difficult times, and the nation remains united and determined in the war against terrorism.
Concluding her statement, she said that these cowardly terrorist attacks can never shake the resolve and morale of the nation. The people of Pakistan are peace-loving and ready to make every sacrifice for peace, progress, and stability in the country.
