CM Punjab’s Honhaar Scholarship Program

Lahore (Newsman): The Honhaar Scholarship Program, worth Rs. 130 billion, was launched on Tuesday, according to Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, a significant student development.

The Punjab Higher Education Department reports that more than 68,000 students—representing 65 universities, 359 colleges, and 12 medical institutes—have already applied for the program. According to the Chief Minister, the idea is a great step to support higher education.

Eligibility Criteria for the Honhaar Scholarship Program:

The following criteria must be fulfilled by students who apply for the scholarship:

  • Domicile: The student must belong to any district in Punjab.
  • Age Limit: The student should not exceed 22 years as of the closing date.
  • Enrollment: For the fall 2024 session, students must be enrolled in eligible disciplines at recognized universities or colleges, including newly admitted MBBS and BDS students.
  • Family Income: Monthly income should be less than Rs. 300,000 (requires an affidavit).

Minimum Academic Percentage:

  • Medical Colleges: 80% or above.
  • Top Universities: 80% or above.
  • Public Sector Universities:
    • Science: 75% or above.
    • Arts & Social Sciences: 70% or above.
  • HED Colleges:
    • Science: 65% or above.
    • Arts & Social Sciences: 60% or above.

The Honhaar Scholarship Program supports Maryam Nawaz’s goal of providing scholarships to 30,000 students every year and spans 68 disciplines. It will fully fund tuition fees for four- and five-year undergraduate degree programs.

At the direction of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, the Punjab government expanded the Maryam Ki Dastak program to 32 districts on November 18.

Rahim Yar Khan, Vehari, Lodhran, Toba Tek Singh, Layyah, Rajanpur, Nankana Sahib, Chiniot, Gujrat, and Khushab are part of this enlargement.

Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) Chairman Faisal Yousaf emphasized during a review meeting in Lahore that the initiative’s goal is to improve service delivery through trained personnel, guaranteeing a more effective and citizen-friendly experience.
