General Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), Chief of Army Staff (COAS) has left today (Sunday) for United States of America (USA) on an official visit, said an Inter Services Public Relatione (ISPR) handout issued here.
This is General Syed Asim Munir’s first visit to USA as COAS.
During his visit, General Syed Asim Munir is scheduled to meet the senior military and other government officials of USA, ISPR handout concluded.
COAS is visiting US at a very important time. During these times , Pakistan-US Relations are going through extremely volatile phase . Although , top leadership of both the countries is trying to improve bilateral ties , particularly , in the field of defence ,but still it seems a long way to go. Pakistan’s army chief will like to discuss illegal Afghan’s repatriation to their country as US adminstration is publicly opposing this action of Pakistan . Pakistan has its own reasons to send illegal Afghans back to their country . COAS will present Pakistan’s case when he come across with US military and civilian officials. Other issues like Gaza war and Pakistan’s upcoming elections can come on the negotiation table when Pakistan’s army chief meets US authorities in US .
