ISLAMABAD : August. 23, 2022. The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has served notice on Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) in court contempt case and summoned him on August 31 in person .
Three members bench headed by Justice Mohsin Akhter Kiani, Justice Babar Sattar and Justice Gul Hasan Aurangzeb , is hearing contempt case against Imran Khan for hurling threats on a female session judge and senior police officers of Islamabad police for granting physical remand of his chief security officer (CSO) ,Shahbaz Gill, in sedition case.
Imran Khan has addressed a public rally on Saturday last at F-9 Park in Islamabad and hurled serious threats to the female judge and senior officers of the Islamabad police. He used extremely derogatory language against the female judge and threatened her of action.
The PTI chief also threatened the senior officials of Islamabad police accusing them of physically torturing his CSO.
The IHC had taken its serious notice and decided to initiate a contempt of court proceedings .
Tuesday’s hearing was the first one of the case.
During the hearing Islamabad attorney general , Jahangir Khan Jadoon , informed the bench that he has filed a petition before the court to permit him to make the statement of Imran Khan part of the case.
The court enquired from Islamabad attorney general as to when Imran Khan used threatening the female judge and the senior officials of Islamabad police . On this Jahangir Khan Jadoon informed the court that he made objectionable remarks against the judge and the police officials while addressing the public rally at F-9 Park in Islamabad on Saturday last.
The court allowed the Islamabad attorney general to make the statement of Imran Khan a part of the case.
The court showed surprise as if a person who had been prime minister could issue such a threatening statement for a judge and senior police officers.
The court served notice on Imran Khan in the contempt case and summoned him in person on August 31, 2022.
The case in trial is extremely important for Imran Khan. His outburst against the female judge and the senior police officials can lead to his uncertain political future.
His party legal team is also giving him divided opinion .
The legal fratainity has also doubts that an apology can work for Imran Khan in this contempt case
Shiaq Usmani , a retired judge, had spoke out in a private TV channel show the other day. He had doubted that an apology can win for Imran Khan in this case.
