KARACHI, October 31, 2024: A district and sessions court acquitted Natasha Danish on Thursday in connection with a murder case arising from a fatal accident on Karsaz Road in August.
The acquittal followed the submission of a reconciliation agreement between the families involved.
On August 19, Danish’s speeding Toyota Land Cruiser struck three motorcycles and another vehicle, resulting in the deaths of 60-year-old Imran Arif and his 22-year-old daughter, Amna.
The accident also left three others injured. Police had arrested Danish at the accident site.
She had previously secured bail in the murder case on September 6 after the victims’ family pardoned her “without any blood money.”
However, her bail pleas in a separate drug case were rejected twice by lower courts, leading her to seek relief from the Sindh High Court, which granted her bail against surety bonds worth Rs1 million.
Danish’s lawyer, Advocate Amir Mansoob Qureshi, confirmed to Dawn.com that the acquittal was based on a compromise between the two parties. Notably, Danish was not present during the court hearing.
Following the accident, a medical report revealed that Danish was under the influence of methamphetamine while driving. This prompted the police to file a separate first information report (FIR) against her under the Prohibition (Enforcement of Hadd) Order of 1979.
The court’s decision to acquit Danish marks a significant development in this high-profile case.
