Court comes to save future of medical students, Stops new admissions, suspends PMC advertisement

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) has stopped new admissions in private medical and dental colleges, besides suspending Pakistan Medical Commission (PMC) advertisement made for this purpose.

Justice Ayesha Malik of LHC passed the order to stop new admissions in private medical and colleges as well as suspending PMC advertisement relating to the matter during hearing of a petition filed by some aggrieved students here on Friday.

The counsel for aggrieved students argued before the court that his clients had completed PMC process and got admission in medical and dental colleges some three to four months ago. He maintained that his clients after qualifying for admission paid fee to the medical and dental colleges and their classes have already begun but now after completion of the first module, PMC has advertised to scrap admissions of my clients and ordered for the new admissions in medical and dental colleges on the pretext of recieving some complaints in admissions in some private colleges, which was going to jeopardise future of his clients and thousands of other students .

After hearing the arguments of the counsel of the aggrieved students, the court stopped new admissions in private medical and dental colleges. It also suspended operation of the PMC advertisement relating to the matter and issued notice to PMC for its reply for May 26, 2021.
