Dar brings much-needed relief for public in petroleum product prices

Maryam Nawaz appreciates relief for people in petroleum product prices

ISLAMABAD : September 30,2022. After a long and tense wait, the inflation-hit people of Pakistan finally had relief in the prices of petroleum products.

Finance minister, Ishaq Dar, announced reduction in the prices of petroleum products on Friday . The new rates of petroleum products will remain applicable for next fortnight .

According to Mr Dar the new prices of the petroleum products will bring much- needed relief to price-hike affected people .

Following an announcement by the minister in-charge , the Finance Division formally issued a notification of the new rates of the petroleum products .

According to Friday’s notification , the petrol prices have been reduced by Rs 12 .63 and its new price is Rs 224.80 per liter.

Kerosin rates were reduced by Rs 10.19 and its new rates are Rs 181.19 per liter.

Light diesel price was reduced by Rs 10.70 and its new rates are Rs 186.50 per liter.

Diesel price was reduced by Rs 12.13 and its new rates are Rs 235.30 a liter .

Friday’s announcement of reducing the prices of petroleum products is a good development as it would bring out the public from a shocking state of mind.

Since coming in power in April last, Shahbaz Sharif was denying relief to the public in the rates of petroleum products .Former Finance minister , Miftah Ismail , instead passing on the benefit of lowering prices of petroleum products in global market increased taxes on petroleum products . This phenomenon had sent a wave of shock to the public.

Miftah Ismail set a new record of upward revision in petroleum products prices and its spiral affect had opened up an unbearable flood of price -hike in the country . Right from edible to transport cost got multiplied for public whose income either stayed stagnant or shrunk in the last five months of PMLN rule.

Repeated upward revision in the rates of petroleum products had literally turned lives of the people of this country into a hell.

This trend might had continued if Miftah was allowed to stay as a Finance minister as yet.

The question arises whose interests Mr Miftah protected by repeatedly increasing the rates of petroleum products ?

Ishaq Dar’s coming back in Finance ministry had stopped Mr Miftah’s style of governance and brought a reasonable relief to the inflation strapped people .
Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PMLN) vice president , Maryam Nawaz, expressed her satisfaction over reduction in the rates of petroleum products.

She said ” Thanks God ! The people at last got relief in petroleum products prices”.
