Dar Confirms Arrests Related to Attacks on Chinese Citizens

ISLAMABAD, October 30, 2024: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar announced significant arrests related to recent attacks on Chinese nationals in Pakistan, reaffirming the government’s commitment to ensuring the safety of its closest ally.

Speaking at a conference hosted by the Pakistan-China Institute, titled “China at 75: A Journey of Progress, Transformation and Global Leadership,”

He confirmed that multiple suspects involved in the attacks have been apprehended, stating, “We will leave no stone unturned to protect the lives and properties of Chinese in Pakistan.” Dar assured that these suspects would face justice after due process, with further details to be communicated to Chinese President Xi Jinping during President Zardari’s visit to China next month.

The announcement follows a suicide attack near Karachi’s airport earlier this month, claimed by the Balochistan Liberation Army, which left two Chinese citizens dead and ten others injured. Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong voiced concerns over the threats and urged Pakistan to take decisive action to safeguard its citizens and investments. The collaboration between the two nations underscores their commitment to maintaining stability and security in the region
