Death toll reaches 307 in KPK flash floods, dozens houses swept away

Federal , provincial govt struggle to rescue flood affectees. Army despatches more teams to expedite rescue operation in flood-hit Bunair , Swat, Lower Dir and other districts . Relief package announced .

Peshawar – Due to Cloud bursting, torrential rains and flash floods over the past 48 hours have wreaked havoc across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) causing heavy loss of life and property.

According to a detailed report issued by the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) and the provincial government, 307 people have lost their lives, including 279 men, 15 women, and 13 children.

The report further revealed that 23 others were injured 17 men, four women, and two children.

Damage to Property :

Floodwaters damaged 74 houses, of which 11 were completely destroyed while 63 were partially damaged.The worst hit areas include Swat, Buner, Bajaur, Torghar, Mansehra, Shangla, and Battagram.

Relief Package Announced:

The provincial government has announced a relief package worth Rs 500 million for the affected districts:

Rs 150 million for Buner

Rs 100 million each for Bajaur, Battagram, and Mansehra

Rs 50 million for Swat

Buner Worst Affected
Adviser to the Chief Minister on Information, Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif, confirmed that 11 districts have been affected, with 3,817 people impacted overall. At least 32 people remain missing.

District-wise figures show:

Buner suffered the heaviest losses, with 159 deaths and 100 people rescued alive.

Bajaur reported 20 fatalities, with one person missing.

Battagram recorded 11 deaths, while 10 people are still unaccounted for.

Rescue Operations Underway
Rescue operations have been intensified in flood-hit areas. A total of 545 personnel with 90 vehicles and boats are engaged in search, rescue, and relief efforts, focusing on locating the missing, transporting the injured, and delivering aid to affected families.
