District adminstration accused of hurdling urea availability in many districts of Punjab

Islamabad : Dec 14: Urea availability is becoming a real issue at a time when the farmers need it badly to get maximum production of wheat .

NEWSMAN spoke to different stakeholders if urea sector . Commenting on this thorney issue a reasonable of FFC said “As a leading fertilizer company, FFC has always strived to ensure nationwide fertilizer availability in accordance with GOP policies. However, we’re currently encountering obstacles, particularly during the peak season of Wheat crop. Delays in delivering products are arising due to incidents, including the unwarranted detainment and sale of our fertilizer by AC Sadiqabad and his staff”.

He said “Since Nov 21, 2023 till now, eight (8) trailers, carrying 510 MT of Sona Urea (P) & (G) shipped Ex-GM & FFBL have been confiscated by AC Sadiqabad, alleging product hoarding. (Trucks detail enclosed)”. Despite possessing all the relevant shipment documents, tracker installation reports, and FBR verification codes, FIRs were filed against the above trucks. As per the reports, AC Sadiqabad and his staff have so far sold the product of six (06) Trucks (8,000 bags) in the open market and planning to sell the remaining 2,200 bags as well . They said these incidents not only impede our commitment to national agricultural support but also pose a severe threat to the livelihoods of farmers who depend on timely access to fertilizers for their crops. The actions of AC Sadiqabad undermine the integrity of the supply chain, creating a ripple effect that reaches far beyond the initial detentions. Urgent intervention is requested to rectify these unjust practices, safeguard the agricultural sector, and ensure the smooth distribution of fertilizers vital to the nation’s food security.
