‘Do not steal our water share’, Sussi Palejo slams IRSA for creating ‘Water crisis in Sindh’

THATHA,: PPP leader and senator , Sussi Palejo, has accused Indus River System Authority (IRSA) of intentionally damaging agro based economy of Sindh by diverting its allocated water share to other provinces.

Sussi Palejo in her statement on Wednesday said Sindh is facing acute scarcity of irrigation water due to unjustified water distribution to the provinces. She said Sindh has historically been victim of IRSA’s unjust and unconstitutional distribution of water and its gravity has increased with each passing year. She asserted that this year IRSA has created a sever water crisis for Sindh by choking down its water supply. She added that as a result of reduced water supply at Kotri down stream, coastal belt spanning over Thatha and Badin districts are facing huge water shortage and it is going to devastate crops in these areas of the province.

Sussi Palejo claimed that Sindh’s member in IRSA has raised the issue of not providing province its water share with IRSA chairman through a letter.

She deplored that Prime Minister, Imran Khan, has not taken notice of the situation arising out of water shortage in the sindh province.
