ECC Approves Rs. 30 Billion for Flood Relief Housing Project

 

ISLAMABAD, November 1, 2024: The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet met today under the chairmanship of Federal Minister for Finance Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, approving several significant financial proposals.

Among the decisions, the ECC authorized the transfer of Rs. 30 billion from the “Flood Response Emergency Housing Project” to the Finance Division. This amount will be allocated to the Government of Sindh as part of the development budget, following authorization from the Ministry of Planning, Development & Special Initiatives.

The committee also addressed the allocation of domestic and imported wheat stocks by the Ministry of National Food Security & Research. The ECC determined that wheat would be distributed based on a previously established allocation ratio, ensuring that all wheat-deficient agencies and regions could meet their demands for the Food Year 2024-25. Additionally, the ECC mandated that all wheat be tested for quality before distribution.

In other approvals, the ECC granted a Technical Supplementary Grant of Rs. 252.711 million to the Capital Development Authority to maintain civic services at the Prime Minister’s Office and its staff colony. It also approved Rs. 1.8 billion for the Ministry of Defence to overhaul engines for two VVIP aircraft used by the President and Prime Minister.

Further support was extended with a Technical Supplementary Grant of Rs. 2.939 billion to the Directorate General of Immigration & Passports for the purchase of e-passport personalization systems. The National Accountability Bureau received approval for Rs. 376 million to cover expenses related to its Recovery and Reward Rules, and the Ministry of Commerce was allocated Rs. 226.720 million to support trade missions in China.

The meeting was attended by several federal ministers, secretaries, and senior officials, highlighting the government’s commitment to addressing pressing economic challenges and enhancing public service delivery.
