Islamabad : Feb 4 : As voting day gets closer, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has announced that its Election Management System (EMS) is fully operational and tested to deliver to the required standards for 2024 elections.
Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) , Raja Sultan Sikander , was given a display of EMS by ECP officials in a high level meeting held here on Sunday. The concerned ECP officials also issued Form 24 and Form 25 live during the meeting to showcase flawless display of EMS .
Pakistan is going to use EMS for voting on February 8 just 3 days later . Its for the first time that Pakistan is going to apply EMS for holding general elections. ECP had used RDS for the last elections in 2018. This system had invited severe criticism as it resulted in delay in announcement of provisional results in many constituencies . Keeping in view the last elections bad experience , ECP is going to use EMS for elections 2024.
ECP has faced criticism for EMS also ,but it is convinced that those who are criticising EMS have no valid proof in support of their claims. ECP also announced on Sunday here that it has completed its job of printing ballet papers and other elections related materials . It also announced that it printed 194 % additional ballet papers than the last elections 2018 . It also announced that the ballet papers and other elections materials have been delivered to ROs across Pakistan.
Elections 2024 are seen as a history making in many ways . Initial data shows that a large number of candidates are in the run for elections 2024 . The political pundits are predicting much higher turnover in these elections as both the candidates and voters seem extraordinary charged to use voting rights.
