Election Tribunals Begin Hearings on General Election 2024 Disputes in Punjab

LAHORE, November 18, 2024: Election tribunals, consisting of retired judges, have started hearings on various election-related disputes arising from the General Election 2024 in Punjab, including Lahore and other cities.

The tribunals are addressing significant cases today, including those involving Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, former Chief Minister Hamza Shehbaz, and other contested constituencies.

The proceedings are being overseen by retired Judge Rana Zahid Mehmood, who is presiding over the tribunal sessions.

Maryam Nawaz’s legal team appeared before the tribunal to present their arguments concerning the election disputes.

The legal teams are expected to argue the validity of results and other election-related matters.

Meanwhile, opposition parties, including Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC), have accused the incumbent ruling alliance of “snatching” their mandate.

The opposition claims that the election process was manipulated, though these allegations have yet to be proven in court.

The PTI and SIC have demanded re-elections in the affected constituencies.
