Overseas Pakistanis are our ambassadors, you are the crown of our heads, Pakistanis living abroad have earned a name for themselves with their hard work and dedication, more than 10 million overseas Pakistanis have served the country. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced the establishment of special courts in Islamabad for overseas Pakistanis and said that they will be given the facility of attendance through video link so that they do not have to come to Pakistan. He said that Army Chief General Asim Munir is a true Pakistani and a great professional. What is in his heart is what is on his tongue. By the grace of Allah, Pakistan’s defense is safe in his hands. No one can look at Pakistan with a dirty eye and whoever looks at it with a dirty eye, Pakistanis will trample that eye under their feet. He said that we all know where the fabric of terrorism that has been spread within the country is found. Who is funding the terrorists? But the real point is that the great sacrifices that are being made and in the past, when terrorists had heated up the market of terrorism in Pakistan, 80,000 people were martyred. This included doctors, politicians, shopkeepers and laborers.
The Prime Minister said that the jihad and war waged by the Pakistani army to eradicate terrorism is unparalleled in modern times. Today, the same history is being repeated. Why was terrorism completely eradicated in 2018? There is no other example in world history that eradicating such a major terrorist attack was not an easy task.
The Prime Minister said that blatant mistakes were made in the last few years. Not dozens but hundreds of people were resettled in Swat and other places. Terrorism has resurfaced due to the wrong policies of the previous government. Where do we find the fabric of the incidents in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa?
The Prime Minister said that if a young man of the country orphans his children to protect us all and then the venom spread against him on social media, can it be tolerated? Can anyone have a soft corner for him? This is the difference between a hard state and a soft state. These are the requirements of a hard state, while you know very well the other requirements of a soft state. Shahbaz Sharif said that the economic stability that is coming to Pakistan is the result of your hard work and teamwork day and night. If such teamwork continues, Pakistan will become the greatest power in the world. There is nothing greater than Pakistaniness. If you are in any position, everything is fine, but when you are not in position, you will conspire against Pakistan. The government has given a clear message that Pakistan welcomes its sons and daughters living around the world with open hearts. The purpose of this convention is not just to welcome, but to listen to the concerns of overseas Pakistanis, make their suggestions a part of policymaking and ensure their welfare. On this occasion, convenience counters of various government agencies will also be set up so that overseas Pakistanis can get guidance, information and facilities at one place.
The Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development says that this convention is an opportunity for Pakistanis living around the world to reconnect with their homeland — not only physically, but also with a bond of heart and spirit. Pakistan is waiting for you!
On the special instructions of the Prime Minister of Pakistan, a convention has been organized in the federal capital Islamabad to inform overseas Pakistanis about the measures. The convention is organized in collaboration with the Government of Pakistan and the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis, Development and Human Resources. Hundreds of overseas Pakistanis from all over the world are participating in the Overseas Pakistanis Convention, both officially and privately. It should be remembered that the Overseas Pakistanis Foundation of Pakistan (OPF) is an organization that has a reputation and was established by the Government of Pakistan in 1989 to fulfill a mission for the welfare of overseas Pakistanis. At that time, many Pakistanis had started working abroad. The then government wanted to take appropriate steps to address their legitimate grievances. Since then, OPF has been diligently performing its work. With the passage of time, it has improved further. A lot of work has been done on real estate. Many projects are still underway in many cities of the country where many housing schemes are running. In addition, education, complaints cell, financial assistance, assistance in obtaining compensation for overseas workers, vocational training for unskilled people, ambulance service and one-window desks have been established at all international airports in the country. For the happiness of overseas Pakistanis, Fortunately, for the first time, one of them has been nominated as the Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Overseas Pakistani Foundation. Syed Qamar Raza is the first overseas Pakistani on the governing board of this institution, who is the Chairman of the Board of Directors. He is a wealthy businessman based in London who has a large business in the country and abroad. His plans include the restoration of PIA flights, abolishing tax on mobile phones, which was also implemented, exemption from import duty in Pakistan in exchange for the money sent by those living abroad, and the establishment of an advisory council for overseas Pakistanis, which will have two hundred members. They will be given the status of state guests in Pakistan and they will also be able to convey their problems directly to the government. In this regard, about two hundred personalities have been selected from all overseas Pakistanis, including about fifty people from the United States, and all of them have presented their proposals for the completion of welfare projects for overseas Pakistanis at the convention center in Islamabad.
OPF has an annual fund of seven billion rupees, which no one knows about. No one in Europe and America had any idea where it was being spent or how it was being spent. Often, non-profit organizations claim to represent the overseas Pakistanis under different names. Most of the OPF’s income comes from membership of the Overseas Pakistani Foundation based in the Gulf, as they are obliged to give a part of their visa protector fee to the OPF. OPF has seven colleges, twenty schools, some housing societies and about twenty-five hundred employees. Several lakhs of insurance claims can be filed on the death of overseas Pakistanis, and assistance is provided for the transportation of the dead body, as well as the compensation of the relatives, which includes the education expenses of the children.
Pakistan is currently facing a state of terrorism and an economic crisis, which the current government is working on. To some extent, the economic crisis has been brought under control. If the Pakistani government overcomes the problems of illegal possession of properties of overseas Pakistanis in Pakistan, then overseas Pakistanis can find their way back to Pakistan. They will give top priority to investing in property, which will bring capital to Pakistan. Currently, overseas Pakistanis in the US alone have around two hundred billion dollars, and the people of Dubai are ready to provide all kinds of facilities for investing in property there. According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Overseas, the aim of this convention is to welcome overseas Pakistanis to their homes, embrace them, listen to their concerns, and improve policymaking in the light of their valuable suggestions.
