Cambridge ready to review faulty grading formula

ISLAMABAD; Pakistan’s education minister, Shafqat Mahmood, on Friday said the Cambrige University has agreed to rectify the faulty procedure and review grades awarded to O and A level students on August 11,2020.” In response to our demand, the Cambridge University has agreed to review its grading formula for O and A level students and it will announce the reviewed grades on August 18,2020″, the minister said in his statement issued to the media . The Camridge University had announced the result on the basis of a mock exercise for its O and A level students on August 11, 2020, which triggered a controversy world over as the affected students and their parents had rejected the grades , citing them as totally unfair. In Pakistan affected students announced to start protest against the Cambridge University for awarding them unfair grades and they protested in almost all big cities in Pakistan in the last two days The aggrieved students want review of the grading procedure to get fair result. Amid these protests Pakistan’s education minister had approached to the Cambridge University demanding it to take the affected students’ demand seriously. Murad Raas, education minister in Punjab had also termed the Cambridge result as unfair and demanded its ratification. Meanwhile, Pakistani aggrieved students have launched an online petition to sign and increase pressure on the Cambridge University to review its earlier grading system and grant them fair grades . As of August 14, till 23.00 hours more than 20000 students had signed the petition.
