JEDDAH — A dignified farewell ceremony was hosted by the Pakistan Investors Forum (PIF) in honour of Consul General Khalid Majid at a local hotel in Jeddah. The event commenced with the recitation of the Holy Quran by Qari Muhammad Asif, while Ch. Zaheer conducted the proceedings. On the occasion, the newly elected President of the Forum, Shafqat Mehmood, and General Secretary, Mehar Abdul Khaliq Luk, also took oath, administered by Trade Consul Saadia. The gathering was attended by a large number of political, social, and community leaders who praised the remarkable contributions of the Consul General.
Addressing the ceremony, PIF President Shafqat Mehmood lauded Consul General Khalid Majid as a courteous, approachable, and community-oriented diplomat whose services to the Pakistani expatriate community would be remembered with great respect. General Secretary Mehar Abdul Khaliq Luk highlighted the significant improvements made in consular services under the Consul General’s tenure, particularly his commitment to resolving jail cases and completing the new Consulate building—achievements he described as evidence of his professionalism and dedication. Kashmir Committee General Secretary Sardar Iqbal also paid rich tribute, noting that despite health challenges, the Consul General continued to devote his full energy to community welfare and institutional improvement.
In his address, Consul General Khalid Majid expressed deep gratitude to the Pakistani community for the respect, affection, and unwavering support extended to him and his family over the past six years. He said the community’s prayers during his illness were invaluable to him. Reflecting on his tenure, he emphasized that any progress made—whether in community facilitation or administrative reforms—was the result of teamwork. He noted that he worked with three different teams during his posting, each demonstrating exceptional professionalism and competence.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, MASA and Asconcom presented commemorative shields to Consul General Khalid Majid in recognition of his distinguished services. The audience gave a standing ovation, acknowledging his tireless efforts and wishing him success in future assignments.
Prominent attendees included Kashmir Committee Chairman Masood Puri, General Secretary Sardar Iqbal, social figures Sardar Waqas Enayat, Sardar Enayat, Ch. Riaz Ghumman, Haji Usman, Ch. Akram, Azhar Waraich, Ch. Shahbaz, Ch. Zaheer, Musarrat Khalil, Ch Shakoor, Ch Malik Manzoor and several community representatives. The event concluded with a prayer offered by Muhammad Zeeshan, Acting Principal of Pakistan International School, Rehab Section.
