Jeddah — A grand farewell ceremony was held in Jeddah in honor of Consul General Khalid Majid. The event featured Barrister Amjad Malik, Vice Chairman of the Punjab Overseas Pakistanis Commission, as the chief guest.
The ceremony was hosted by Masood Ahmed Puri, Patron-in-Chief of PML-N; Chairman Chaudhry Akram Gujar; and Central President Sheikh Saeed Ahmed. In their addresses, the hosts praised Barrister Amjad Malik’s efforts for safeguarding the rights of overseas Pakistanis and resolving their issues. They noted that his role in guiding the Pakistani community abroad and revitalizing party activities was commendable.
During the event, farewell shields were presented to Consul General Khalid Majid in recognition of his outstanding services. Speakers acknowledged his exemplary contributions during his tenure, including improvements in community welfare, enhanced consular services, and the timely resolution of issues faced by Pakistanis in the Kingdom. They also highlighted the establishment of the new consulate building as one of his major achievements.
In his address, Consul General Khalid Majid said that his six-year tenure in Saudi Arabia was dedicated to serving the Pakistani community. He expressed gratitude for the strong support he received and hoped that these cordial relations would continue in the future. He also briefed Barrister Amjad Malik on some important issues concerning the community.
Chief guest Barrister Amjad Malik discussed the challenges faced by overseas Pakistanis, government measures, and the performance of the Punjab Overseas Pakistanis Commission. He reaffirmed that OPC will continue to provide all possible guidance and assistance to Pakistanis living abroad. On the occasion, he also paid tribute to the services of the Pakistan Armed Forces on May 11.
The ceremony was attended by prominent Pakistani community members, social leaders, and professionals from various cities across Saudi Arabia. In conclusion, the organizers presented honorary shields and gifts to Consul General Khalid Majid, Barrister Amjad Malik, and Sheikh Saeed Ahmed.
