Farmers call-off protest in Islamabad after successful negotiations with govt

Rana Sana says preparations made to tackle Imran Khan's call for march on Islamabad

ISLAMABAD : October 4,2022: The farmers on Tuesday called off their protest launched in Islamabad after successful negotiations with the government here.

The representatives of Kissan Ittehad, which was leading the farmers week long protest in Islamabad, announced calling off of the protest along with Interior minister , Rana Sanaullah, at a press talk held here.

Interior minister, Rana Sanaullah, of the occasion said the government philosophy was that the country will prosper when the farmer of this country will prosper and under the same approach it looks at the demands put to the government by the farmers during the protest.

The Interior minister added that the government has accepted the farmers demand to grant installments of their exiting electricity bills, set a side fuel adjustment charges and workout a plan to give them relief in power tariff . He said prime minister, Shahbaz Sharif, is going to announce a comprehensive package to address all issues confronting with the agriculture sector . He said the prime minister , has constituted a committee to negotiate with the representatives of the farmers and workout an acceptable solutions to all issues raised by the farmers during the protest.

He requested to the farmers who are staging sit in in Islamabad for the last around one week to press the government to accept their demands to put off protest in Islamabad.

The Interior minister assured to the farmers that they will get good news soon and request them to go back to work at their fields.

Rana Sanaullah asked the representatives of the farmers that they should stay in Islamabad for further negotiations on their demands .

On the issue of upcoming protest of Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) , Interior minister said the government has put in place all arrangements to treat with Imran Khan’s expected call for choking Islamabad

The Interior minister said he has chaired a high level meeting today to see the arrangements made to tackle with Imran Khan’s call to overturn the federal government.

Rana Sanaullah added that the government has decided to call in the armed forces under article 245 of the constitution to maintain the law and order in Islamabad during PTI call for overturn of the federal government .

Rana Sanaullah claimed that Imran Khan does not enjoy support of any institution any more.

Khalid Bhat , president Kissan Ittehad ,thanked the government for listening to their demands patiently and promise to take practical steps to address the issues of the farming community
