ISLAMABAD : March 31,2023:. The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has failed to achieve revenue target of Rs 5460 billion in the first nine months of the current fiscal year .
According to the data made Available to NEWSMAN , FBR could collect tax of Rs 5150 billion against the target of Rs 5460 only during July 2022-March 2023 , showing a shortfall of Rs 410 billion.
The official data suggests that FBR faced a shortfall of Rs 60 billion in March this year only . A big shortfall in revenue collection in the first nine months may make it difficult for FBR to achieve tax collection of Rs 7400 billion in the current fiscal year.
FBR is required to collect Rs 2484 billion in the last quarter of the current to meet its target set for the current fiscal year.
Keeping in view the pace of tax collection in the first nine months of the current fiscal year , collection of Rs 2484 taxes in the last three months seems a difficult if not impossible task for FBR.
