The government had divulged the idea to impose ban on PTI some time back in the context of May 9 ,2023 violence . Its ministers were supporting the idea in the public for the last a couple of weeks . However , Pakistan People Party (PPP) , which is a key ally to the government did not buy the idea of banning PTI.The PPP’s disagreement is blocking the government move to ban PTI. Even after ban , Shahbaz government will not have enough reasons to defend its decision to ban PTI. Addressing the cabinet , the prime minister slammed PTI for maligning the army and its leadership .
