FIA launches crackdown on money changers involved in dollar flight

KARACHI: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has launched a massive crackdown on those money changers who are allegedly involved in flight of dollar from Pakistan.

The FIA team raided an important money changer’s office in Karachi on suspision of involving in flight of dollar from Pakistan. According to our correspondent , FIA raided the premises of a big money changer in Karachi and arrested its owner Zafar Paracha.

The government has tasked the FIA to crackdown on all those money changers who are involved in massive buying of dollar from the open market to faciltate its flight out of Pakistan.

The FIA team raided the premises of the Karachi- based prominent money changer and took all its record including the computers into custody, besides arresting the owner Zafar Paracha.

Pakistan is facing serious problem on dollar -rupee parity in recent days and its stoking up dollar rate on daily basis. With take over of Taliban government in Afghanistan, Pakistan’s currency became under pressure due to rising demand of dollar in the open market.
In the last four months , dollar value vis -a- vis Pak rupee raised by more than 14 rupee. It has opened- up a flood of price hike pushing prices of evey edible and non- edible items to new height. The intellegence reports cautioned the government , which suggested that some money exchange companies were imvolved in buying of dollar from open market in fake names of individuals and later smuggling this cuŕrency to Afghanistan. On these intellegence reports, the government ordered to the FIA to take action against those money exchnage companies which were imvolved in illegal trade of dollar .
