FIA Peshawar director faces integrity questions amidst corruption allegations

PESHAWAR- Nov 29: In an application addressed to the Director of FIA Peshawar regarding forgery, a victim revealed that the inquiry officer, in collusion with the opposing party, has muddled the investigation.

Nowshera resident and social activist Syed Tauqeer Hussain Shah, son of Tayyab Ali Shah, disclosed these details while speaking to the media. He stated that my brother-in-law, Arshad Ali Shah, along with NADRA and Patwari, forged and transferred my sister’s property in his name.
“I submitted an application to the Director of FIA Peshawar seven months ago seeking justice and legal action”, the victim said.

However, he noted that the inquiry officer distorted the inquiry report by accepting a substantial bribe from his opponents.

Upon discovering that the FIA was neglecting my case, he requested Deputy Director Saadullah Mehsud for another inquiry, but no action was taken. Even when the media informed Additional Director General FIA Rana Abdul Jabbar about the situation, no action was taken despite false assurances.

Deputy Director Saadullah Mehsud in Peshawar was contacted twice regarding the inquiry, but no progress was made.

The FIA’s anti-corruption wing in Peshawar boasts about its capabilities, but its performance in public service is subpar, marked by corruption. When the media investigated, it was revealed that, aside from Assistant Director Tahir, unprofessional, inexperienced, and corrupt officers have been appointed in the FIA Anti-Corruption Circle, receiving substantial bribes in every raid. Thousands of public applications sent to the FIA have been pending for years.

Despite Director FIA Nisar Tanoli’s tall claims the increasing corruption in FIA Peshawar under his supervision raises doubts about his integrity. A comprehensive media investigation, prompted by Touqeer Ali Shah’s request, uncovered the negligence and carelessness within the FIA Anti-Corruption unit.
