Finance Minister Hosts ADB Delegation for Future Projects

Islamabad: Today, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, the Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, was visited by a delegation from the Asian Development Bank (ADB), headed by Senior Director Mr. Tariq H. Niazi, in the Finance Division.

Mr. Tariq H. Niazi briefed the Minister on ADB’s public sector management and governance initiatives, which are intended to ensure better macro-fiscal management and efficient governance with enhanced policy frameworks and institutional capacities in the Bank’s developing member countries.

Ms. Emma Fan, the Country Director of Asian Development Bank, and her team in Pakistan also attended the meeting.

Mr. Tariq Niazi stated that the ADB has many projects planned for economic reforms and socio-economic development in Pakistan.

These projects include policy and administration reforms, digitalization of FBR, private-public partnerships, climate change, policy-based guarantees, financial and budgetary support, support in poverty reduction, and technical assistance in pension reforms.

The ADB’s financial and technical support for Pakistan has been praised by Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb. He claimed that Pakistan’s development needs were in line with the bank’s main areas of support.

He applauded the bank’s support in advancing the agenda for pension and government reforms as well as in enhancing climate resilience.
