Fire engulfs Centurus Mall in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD. October 9,2022. It was Sunday afternoon around 4 PM when a fire broke out in Centurus Mall here.

The fire , according to eye witnesses, initially broke out at third floor of one of three towers of the mall and pierced through all 20 floors of the tower.
The Centurus Mall is a modern skyscraper situated in the heart of Islamabad. It has hundreds of residential flats , shops, restaurants and more than one food courts.

The eyewitnesses say they saw balls of fire gushing out from a third flour where Monal restaurant, a famous food brand of the city , operates .

The Islamabad police chief in a tweet said the people who were inside the Centurus Mall at the time of incidents have been evacuated safely and there was no loss of life in the incident.
The Fire Brigade and other rescue teams rushed to the site of fire to respond to the emergency in minimum time and it resulted in quick damage control.
Senior administration of Islamabad, Capital Development Authority (CDA) was present at the scene to monitor rescue work and firefighting efforts.

At around 5 PM, the police officers announced that the fire in the Centurus Mall was under control.

A spokesman of Pakistan Navy also tweeted that Pak Navy teams were busy with CDA and other teams to put off fire in the Centurus Mall.

Till filing of these reports, smoke could be seen gushing out of the tower of the Centurus Mall from where fire initially broke out.

Prime minister , Shahbaz Sharif, expressed concern over fire incident and ordered to the concerned departments to use all resources to ensure safety of the people inside the mall.

In a latest development, the police have sealed the Centurus Mall till further orders to ascertain the cause of fire breakout .
