Fiscal rights dispute : KPK PMS officers announce province -wide strike for May 6

PESHAWAR – The Provincial Management Service Officers Association has formally announced a province wide pen down strike scheduled for May 6, expressing strong support for the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government’s stance on the protection of provincial rights and fair resource distribution.

In an official press release, the Association declared unwavering solidarity with the provincial leadership, citing serious concerns over persistent delays in the National Finance Commission Award and what it termed as an inequitable allocation of electricity and gas resources.According to the statement, these issues are significantly hindering administrative efficiency and slowing down economic development in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The Association emphasized that the matter goes beyond administrative grievances and directly impacts the constitutional principle of fiscal federalism.It stressed that a fair, transparent, and predictable distribution of financial resources between the federation and provinces is essential for a functional federation. “A strong province is the foundation of a strong federation, the statement underscored, warning that erosion of provincial fiscal space weakens governance, service delivery, and national cohesion.

Aligning with the provincial leadership’s recent announcement, the PMS Officers Association confirmed that all its members will observe a complete pen down strike on May 6.Officers have been directed to refrain from official correspondence and routine administrative duties as a demonstration of unity and professional integrity.

The Association further reiterated its commitment to the development and prosperity of the province, describing the strike as a necessary and principled step to secure equitable rights, strengthen fiscal federalism, and ensure a fair and sustainable future for both the province and the federation.The press release was signed by the Noman Wazir Chairman of the PMS Association Khyber Pukhthoonkhwa, marking a significant escalation in the ongoing tensions over resource distribution and center province relations.
