Four Soldiers Martyred, Five Terrorists Killed in South Waziristan Clash

PESHAWAR: Four soldiers embraced martyrdom while five terrorists were killed during an exchange of fire between security forces and militants in South Waziristan district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

According to ISPR, the clash occurred in the Karama area of South Waziristan, which borders Afghanistan, according to a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of the Pakistan Army.

The statement confirmed that Pakistani security forces engaged the terrorists effectively, resulting in the death of five militants after an intense firefight.

The martyred soldiers were identified as Naib Subedar Taib Shah (38, District Tank), Lance Naik Gulab Zaman (30, District Karak), Lance Naik Muzammil Mehmood (30, District Karak), and Lance Naik Habibullah (28, District Orakzai).

A sanitization operation is currently underway to clear the area of any remaining militants.

ISPR reaffirmed that Pakistan’s security forces remain committed to eradicating terrorism, noting that the sacrifices of these brave soldiers only strengthen their resolve.

Earlier, on November 4, security forces killed six terrorists in separate intelligence-based operations in North and South Waziristan.

According to ISPR, security forces failed an attempt of a group of khwarij to infiltrate through Pakistan-Afghanistan border, and killed five terrorists in general area Khamrang, South Waziristan District. In another incident, one khwarij was killed during in operation in North Waziristan district.

A report by the Pak Institute for Peace Studies (PIPS), an Islamabad-based think tank, Pakistan witnessed 48 terrorist attacks alone in October in which 100 people were killed, and injured 80 others.
