Sakardu : Pakistan People Party (PPP) is leading in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) elections held on June 7,2026. PPP’s rival , Pakistan Muslim League (PMLN) , is poised to take the second position in the race . Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) backed candidates seems in disadvantage in the initial result.
Till filing of these reports , PPP’s Akhtar Ali won the seat of Nagar 1. Syed Tauqir Mehdi Shah of PPP , a former Chief minister of Gilgit -Baltistan (GB) has also won from Sakardu 1. He bagged 4500 votes. PPP ‘s Fida Noshad Ali won from Sakardu 3 . He secured 6314 votes.
PMLN ‘s Ibrahim Sinai won from Ghanchay 1. He bagged 12048 votes. Independent candidate , Asad Shafiq , won from Ghanchay 3. He bagged 8094 votes. Another independent candidate , Anwar Ali, also won the seat from GBA 23.
Earlier reported : Time to vote in Gilgit – Baltistan elections ended as per schedule at 5 PM on Sunday and its followed by a counting process of the cast votes. From Astor 2, Rana Farooq of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PMLN )is leading.
Voting process in entre GB region remained peaceful. The security arrangements worked well to provide the voters a safe and secure environment to vote to their preferred candidates.
According to the details , 403 candidates are in the run for 24 seats of GB assembly.
The political parties made high-end promises with.voters during elections campaign to address the issues faced by the people of GB.
PPP led by Balawal Bhutto , PMLN and other Political parties are main condenders for GB top slot. Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) of jailed Imran Khan was banned from contesting the elections in GB and it installed it’s candidates in almost all 24 constituencies as independents.
PTI accuses the ruling PMLN of depriving it from having even playing ground in the GB elections . However , its leadership is expecting result of GB elections in favour of its independent candidates.
