Tuesday ‘s meeting of army chief , general Qamar Javed Bajwa was the first ever meeting with prime minister , Shahbaz Sharif.
Army chief , general Qamar Javed Bajwa , had not attended the oath taking ceremony of prime minister , Shahbaz Sharif. He also stayed away from the oath taking ceremony of Shahbaz Sharif’s cabinet held here on Tuesday .
The army chief’s absence from these two events was unusual . The COAS and other top brass of the armed forces usually attend the oath taking ceremony of the new prime minister . Army chief , Qamar Javed Bajwa’s absence from oath taking of the prime minister and later from the ceremony held for oath taking of the federal cabinet was taken as a surprise by every one .
Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) director general, Babar Iftikhar , had informed to a journalist other day who asked him at a recently held press briefing that the army chief stayed away from the prime minister’s oath taking due to health issue.
