Gold is shining more than any other metal or currency even in Pakistan for the last quite time. There is two basic reason of continued increase in gold prices. Frist, recently, there is much higher demand of gold in local market and second devaluation of the rupee to US dollar . The investors say there is third factor as well which is a main cause of unprecedented increase in gold prices in Pakistan. This third factor, according to the investors, is gold smuggling from Pakistan to Afghanistan like US currency.
In recent times, gold rates has touched highest level in Pakistan. In outgoing month of December which is a season of weddings and it subsequently push up gold rates in Pakistan. But this time the phenomenon is much more than the past years. Pakistan market forces are being run by smuggling factor.
During the last half a year, Afghanistan based Indian network is buying dollar from Pakistan and smuggling it to Afghanistan at will.
This phenomenon is new to Pakistan. Afghan refugees are a headache for Pakistan for around four decades but the way they are now operating for India to damage Pakistan economically and otherwise is unthinkable.
Pakistan is in hot waters as it can not throw Afghans out of Pakistan. Islamabad has its own priorities and at the same time it can not afford to ignore smuggling of currency and gold by Afghans led Indian network. Pakistan has to follow some novel way to handle the situation and foil Indian bid to weaken already frail Pakistan .
