Govt Assures IMF Program is On Track, Rejects Claims of Setbacks

 

ISLAMABAD, December 3, 2024: The Government of Pakistan has assured that the IMF program is proceeding without any disruptions, with the country fully committed to fulfilling all its obligations under the agreement.

The government continues to work closely with the IMF staff to ensure the successful completion of the 37-month program.

The Ministry of Finance emphasized that Finance Minister Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb has consistently reiterated the government’s dedication to implementing essential macroeconomic reforms.

During a recent briefing to the National Assembly Standing Committee on Finance, the Finance Minister reaffirmed the critical importance of sticking to the IMF program in order to achieve long-term macroeconomic stability.

Minister Aurangzeb also addressed speculation regarding potential issues with the program’s implementation, labeling such claims as subjective and lacking credible evidence.

The government remains focused on maintaining economic stability, fulfilling its commitments under the IMF program, and setting the stage for stronger, sustainable, and inclusive growth.
