Govt calls in military to curb violent protest over Imran Khan’s arrest

ISLAMABAD: May 10, 2023: After 24-hour since arrest of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman, Imran Khan, the federal government has called in the military in add to the civil administration to control violence triggered as a result of the on-going protests.

The military has been called in under article 245 of the constitution in add to civil administration on the request of the concerned provincial governments.
The PTI workers are on the roads to protest arrest of Imran Khan. For the last two days, the supporters of Imran khan are having clashes with the police and putting tires on the fire at main chowks of almost all major cities of Pakistan.

Interior ministry has formally issued a notification to call in the military in add to the civil administration to cope with the situation arising out of violent protests of PTI workers.
Meanwhile, Islamabad police have arrested PTI leader Asad Umar under 16 MPO.

PTI leader A sad Umar was arrested from the Islamabad High Court (IHC) where he had come to seek protective bail in a case registered against him at Aabpara police station.
The police is also after other PTI leaders like Fawad Chaudhary, Faisal Chaudhary advocate, Ali A wan former PTI MNA and Babar Awan advocate.
