Islamabad : The government has added to the financial woes of the masses by revising prices of the petroleum products upward for next fortnight (Oct 1-15).
According to a notification of the Finance Division issued at mid night on October 1, petrol has become costlier by Rs 4.07 per litre. With this increase , petrol price has jumped up from Rs 264.61 to Rs 268.67 a litre. Similarly , high speed diesel price has been jacked up by Rs 4.04 which pushed its rates per litre from Rs 272.77 to Rs 276.81 .
The notification of the new petroleum product prices said “The government has revised the prices of petroleum products for the fortnight commencing October 01, 2025, based on the recommendations of Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority
(OGRA) and the relevant Ministries”. The new prices (in Rs. per litre) are as follows: (Rs. / litre) –Products.

The people of Pakistan are already under huge financial stress due to unbridled price hike. The situation for majority of public in Pakistan has aggravated due to unleashing of new campaign of looting by the businesses and industrial sector. The prices of all necessities have multiplied in Pakistan in recent post- flood situation. The profiteers are using flood as a tool and golden opportunity to multiply prices of necessities . This looting of the businesses and industrialists have made the public lives miserable beyond one’s thinking.
In the last three weeks after the deadly floods that washed out a major part of crops in many parts of Pakistan , the rates of vegetable , rice , sugar every thing of public use havr increased irrationally.
The government at federal level and provinces levels are least bothered about the on -going loot of businesses , suppliers and middlemen. The rulers are just making statements to give an impression to the people who are even not in a position to make their least living that they are doing too much for their protection against price-hike . But in practical terms , the ruling elite and authorities statements are just lip service and nothing more.
With new increase in the prices of petroleum products , the public lives will become more and more miserable in the country.
