” Hole ” !!

When Pakistan as a country is there along with those who run it, there remains no further need for any other comedy. The entire fleet of the Pakistan International Airlines the National Carrier is grounded because it finally was made to drown in its debt and so the country by those who run it.

The other day I first hand experienced another joke by travelling in a supposedly high end public transport to a once world renowned tourist destination of Swat that I observed a hole in the body of a Daewoo bus operating between the Capital City of Islamabad to Swat. It is noteworthy that once the service of the Daewoo was banned by its then proactive administration under an able civil servant Junaid Khan, the former Deputy Commissioner Swat ، indeed a hard working and honest soul, yet the Lahore based shameless management of Daewoo did not learn its lesson and why should they when the entire clock of the country moves anti- clockwise.

Before the journey commenced, the security staff recorded video footage of each passenger, ostensibly for their safety. As the bus entered Motorway No. 1, it suddenly came to a halt, and a Motorway policy official boarded to record video footage of each passenger’s face again. These passengers, whose only “crime” was be traveling within their own country, were time and again subjected to unwarranted scrutiny.

The absurdity did not stop there. I couldn’t help but wonder if the primary duty of the Motorway police should not be to inspect the physical condition of vehicles on Pakistani motorways, especially tires, bodies, and engines, given that most accidents in Pakistan occur due to vehicle fitness issues rather than spying on innocent passengers traveling within their own supposedly safe and secure country.

Further up at the border of Swat at the Landaikay pass that the plain clothed policeman inquired from the driver of the bus whether any foreigner was aboard the bus that the driver denied and so the bus was allowed to enter the former Princely State of Swat now under the safe wings of high security measures. I was wondering Pakistanis dying by hundreds going down with the crowded immigrants boats desperately trying to reach the western shores of Europe , where our leaders roam around to beg, then why the hell would these foreigners visit Pakistan and its remotest part such as Swat, where its own citizens do not feel safe and live in constant fear.

Before arriving at the destination that a well dressed person ostensibly well educated as well and wearing a jet black long beard giving a religious and pious vibes, who occupied seat – 5, was trying to persuade the conductor to drop him on the road which the conductor said was not allowed as management policy . I intervened as to why was dropping passengers by roadside not practised, even if not allowed, as a policy, law or rule , when in the rest of country everything is allowed that is forbidden.

Jokingly, I whispered into the bearded man’s ears to bribe the conductor and he will find the way but he turned a deaf ear to my workable advice maybe the pharmaceutical company on whose expense the man was travelling might have not paid him for his adventurous exercise to which every Pakistani citizen is used to just grease the palm or the wheel that squeaks and nothing will bother you.

Shockingly, on entering the city of Mingora that I was greeted by the persistent automatic gun fire rattling the peace of the locals, who already live in constant fear and uncertainty . Sadly, the gunfire sound reportedly emanated from within approximately 200 yards from the top administrative seats, whether office of the Deputy Commissioner, District Courts, District Police Officers or other sensitive offices . It was a yet another shocking discovery that the exchange of the heavy automatic fire was a result between the clash of two armed rival gangs that resulted into two deaths due to gunshot wound and injuries to some others.

I wonder what Justice Prince Miangul Hasan Aurangzeb of Swat must be thinking hearing the two petitions filed at the Islamabad High Court by PML-N convicted leader Nawaz Sharif seeking protective bail in the Avenfield and Al-Azizia cases before triumphantly returning to the beats of the victory drums at Lahore , as reported by Dawn and copied below ,

(At one point during the hearing, the NAB prosecutor said that the bureau did not have any objections if Nawaz wanted to come back.

At this, Justice Aurangzeb said, “You have no objection to granting protective bail. Tomorrow you will say that the judgement should be struck down. Then you should also ask the NAB chairman and let us decide the appeal [against Nawaz’s conviction] today.”).

What a joke of a country and jokers of those who run it and the bloody fools who foot the bill for all the foolishness around.
