Lahore, (Newsman): The International Cricket Council (ICC) reached out to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Friday, requesting a formal written explanation for India’s decision not to travel to Pakistan for the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy.
According to local media reports, the ICC has asked the BCCI to provide a detailed, written justification for why the Indian team will not participate in the tournament, which is set to begin in February 2025.
Last week, the ICC had informed Pakistan of India’s refusal to send its team to Pakistan for the event, which is scheduled to take place from February 19 to March 9, featuring eight teams.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has since sought further clarification from the ICC, requesting a copy of the letter from the BCCI. Reports suggest that, so far, the BCCI has only verbally communicated its decision to the ICC.
The ICC is expected to make a final decision on how to proceed with India’s participation once it receives the written reasons from the BCCI.

Notably, the PCB has ruled out the hybrid hosting model used for last year’s Asia Cup, which allowed matches to be played in both Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
