IHC gives relief to US blogger

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday accepted the US blogger, Cynthia Ritchie’s petition challenging the Interior ministry’s order to deport her from Pakistan in 15 days.
IHC chief justice, Athar Minallah, heard the US blogger’s petition wherein she had questioned the order of Interior ministry to deport her in two weeks. The Interior ministry in its order had refused to extend US blogger’s stay and order the authorities to extradite her within two weeks.
The US blogger had filed the petition in IHC on September 5, 2020 on the ground that Interior ministry rejected her application for extension in visa without citing any reason. The chief justice noted that rejection of application for extension in visa was not a solid ground for any foreigner for getting relief from the court. However, her petition was accepted by the court on the ground that US blogger has already filed a separate case to get justice in the case of sexual harassment case.
The court made it clear that US blogger will be provide every opportunity to prove her case and she will be give justice without any delay. The honourable judge, after hearing the arguments of the counsel for Cynthia Ritchie, ordered to the concerned authorities not to deport her till final judgment into the case.
