IHC rules Imran Khan’s arrest is legal

ISLAMABAD: May 9,2023: Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday declared Imran Khan’s arrest as legal. However, the court ordered to lodge an First Information Report (FIR) on the arrest of Chairman PTI from the court premises and issued a show cause notice to the federal Interior Secretary and IG Islamabad for contempt of court.

IHC chief justice , Justice Amir Farooq, announced the decision in the evening on Tuesday previously reserved by him in the day.

The PTI chairman was accused of corruption in land deal of Al-Qadir Trust University. Bahria Town had provided land for Al- Qadir University Trust,

Imran Khan’s government had adjusted the land given by Bahria Town for Al-Qadir Trust and former first lady Bushra Bibi is one of the trustees.

. Khan, this valuable land was transferred in the name of Al-Qadir Trust which has two trustees in which the first is Bushra Khan and the second is the former Prime Minister.
In a statement issued by Islamabad Police, it has been confirmed that Imran Khan has been arrested in the Al-Qadir Trust case.

NAB has arrested Imran Khan under Section 9A of NAB Ordinance 1999, NAB has taken action under Section 34A, 18E, 24A. Imran Khan was arrested.

According to the NAB statement, Imran Khan is accused of involvement in corruption and corrupt practices.

According to the statement issued by NAB Rawalpindi, the case is related to the illegal acquisition and construction of land for Al-Qadir University, in which the main amount is £ 190 million transferred to Pakistan by the National Crime Agency of Great Britain.
