ISLAMABAD : After day long drama on no confidence motion in parliament and out of it, the Supreme Court of Pakistan (SCP) heard the case of rejection of the no confidence motion by the presiding officer Deputy Speaker , Qasim Souri , and other orders including dissolution of the national assembly has issued a note ordering all state departments and individuals not to take any step or act on the subject in hand till final judgement in the case.
The apex court order said the matter was sent to the court by the office keeping in mind the urgency of the matter . The order said the bench which was headed by chief justice , Umar Atta Bandial heard the parties to the case before passing the order .
The day remained full of drama . The drama went to climax soon after start of the session when deputy speaker , Qasim Souri, read out a rolling for rejection of the no confidence motion tabled by the opposition against the prime minister .
It triggered a new crisis in the country . The opposition immediately rejected the deputy speaker’s decision and decided to hold the session . The opposition opened a legal front and sought apex court,’s direction in the case. The apex court , meanwhile , took suo moto and fixed the matter for hearing on Sunday.
The Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) has also moved a petition to become a party in the matter. The Supreme Court has noted that its main concern is to maintain law and order in the court. The court has sought a report on law and order from the defence secretary and Punjab authorities . The court also ordered that the president and prime minister ‘s orders of Sunday are subject to its final judgement.
The court will resume hearing in the case on Monday .
