LAHORE: Jan 12, 2023: Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf and Pakistan Muslim League Quaid (PMLQ) have formally emerged as victorious in Punjab as Governor, Baligh ur Rehman, has withdrawn his order of December 23 to de-notify Chaudhary Pervez Elahi as chief minister of Punjab.
This development has resulted in disposing off of the case filed by Chaudhary Pervez Elahi in Lahore High Court (LHC) against his dismissal as chief executive of the province.
On resumption of hearing in the case here on Thursday, the counsel for the Governor informed to the
that his client has instructed him to withdraw his order of December 23 and thereafter he does not to peruse the case any more.
After the statement of the Governor’s counsel , the court disposed off the petition. Justice Abid Aziz Shaikh in his remark observed that since the Governor has received the repot of the vote of confidence and he has withdrawn his order of de-notification of he chief minister , Chauhdary Pervez Ealhi, there was no question to continue hearing in the case. He further ruled that after the statement of the counsel for the Governor, the case under hearing stands disposed off.
Justice Asim Hafeez noted that the speaker Punjab assembly acted on the issue in question unlawfully and he should have avoided such kinds of actions on the issue. He added that on the rule of he speaker Punjab assembly he would add a dissent note in the final order.
