Imran Khan treatment case : Opposition to file contempt plea in SC

Islamabad : Pakistan’s opposition parties say that the government has committed contempt of court by failing to implement the Supreme Court’s decision regarding the medical treatment of former Prime Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan. They have decided to approach the Supreme Court in this regard.

A meeting of the joint parliamentary party of the opposition was held on Friday at Parliament House, chaired by Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly, Mahmood Khan Achakzai.
The meeting expressed deep concern over the health condition of former Prime Minister Imran Khan.
Opposition members made it clear that no compromise would be accepted regarding Imran Khan’s health and medical treatment.

According to a statement issued after the meeting, opposition members expressed serious concern over the non-implementation of the Supreme Court’s orders and decided to pursue constitutional and legal avenues.
Members of the parliamentary party said that by failing to implement the Supreme Court’s decision, the government had committed contempt of court. They further stated that they had decided to approach the Supreme Court on Saturday in this regard.

The meeting also announced that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) would maintain its decision to hold a protest on September 27.
