Islamabad : Indian media on Friday said Indian Foreign minister , J. Shankar is going to Pakistan for a 2-day official visit to attend Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit. Pakistan is hosting 2-day SCO summit in Islamabad from October 15-16.
According to India media reports , Foreign minister , J. Shankar will travel to Pakistan to attend SCO summit being held from October 15-16. SCO summit is an important event for regional countries and despite strain relations bilaterally its member countries attend the summit.
Indian Foreign minister ‘s visit to Pakistan to attend SCO summit is more than a visit. Its significance is more than any other current development in the region.
Indian Foreign minister ‘s visit to Pakistan in the current situation when both Islamabad and New Delhi have strain relations is very important not only for two neighbours , but also for the region. J Shankar ‘s visit to Pakistan may melt the ice and pave way for Indian cricket team’s coming to Pakistan in February next year to play the Champion Trophy in this country. J Shankar is coming to Pakistan after a gap of 15 years for any visit of Indian high profile visit to Islamabad. His predecessor , Sushma Swaraj , had visited Pakistan 15 year ago.
