Monday 7th November 1530, I had the honour to meet Honourable Shaukat Sharar at office in Saidu Sharif Swat. Mr. Sharar is an institution in himself. A graduate from Dawood Engineering College Karachi in the 1984 batch, was the first architect of Swat
My relations with him as a friend go back to 1993 when he started practising as the first qualified architect Swat in the 90s till then architect designed houses were not in vogue and ours was one of the very few houses designed by a qualified architect back in 60s.
I am sure my school fellow Honourable Fazal Mahbood, now a Canada based civil engineer and in my list of family and friends would be delighted to find me the the company of his Honourable teacher who trained numerous architects
Honourable Sharar is extremely humble and of amiable nature and to him knowledge is boundless, the more you give the more it returns that makes him and his office doors always open for any internee who wants to learn and apply his knowledge practically.
Swat is lucky to have Honourable Shaukat Sharar not only as a father of modern architecture but an environmentalist who pleaded and campaigned to conserve the environment an advice that feel on people deaf ears and were penalised by the fury of the nature with the devastating floods resulting from our cruelty towards environment that sustains life. I wish him good health and long life.
