Interior minister directs construction of Islamabad jail in 6 months

.Islamabad : May 10,2024 : Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has given the task of completing the first phase of the construction of the jail in H Sector Islamabad in 6 months.
Interior Minister visited the under-construction jail in Islamabad, on this occasion Federal Secretary Interior Khurram Agha, Chief Commissioner Islamabad Muhammad Ali Randhawa, IG Police Islamabad, contractors, consultants and related officials were also present.
Chief Commissioner Islamabad Muhammad Ali Randhawa briefed the Interior Minister about the project. He informed that the construction project of the Islamabad jail started in 2017, even after many years the project could not be completed.
The jail will have the capacity to hold 2,000 prisoners, the capacity to hold 2,000 more prisoners can be increased.
The interior minister inspected the under-construction Islamabad prison and gave the task to complete the first phase of the prison construction in 6 months. The Interior Minister directed Chief Commissioner Islamabad and IG Islamabad Police to regularly review the progress on construction activities. He said that it is clearly incompetent to keep the project hanging for 7 years, the construction of the jail should be completed within the timeline by working day and night.
The Federal Interior Minister said that the process of deployment of necessary staff should also be started immediately, the provision of resources for the completion of the project will be ensured.
The Federal Interior Minister gave instructions to the concerned authorities regarding the completion of the project under construction.
