Islamabad : Iran has outrightly rejected a 15-point proposal of the United States (US) to bring the on-going war in the Middle East (ME) to an end and put forward its 5-point set of demands for what it said permanent ceasefire in the region.
According to a report of Press TV of Iran, Tehran considered US proposal for ending ME war as unreasonable and hence reject it in toto.
Iran demands include complete and permeant end to the war in the region, its soverignity over the strait of Hormuz , compensation for damage caused to it in the US-Israel attacks, guarantee of not attacking by any adversary in the future and lifting of the sanctions imposed on it by the US. Iran’s demands also include its right to maintain missile development programme for self- defence.
US proposals had a number of conditions that Iran believes are unreasonable like handing over of enriched uranium , US supervisory role in managing of the strait of Hormuz. US proposals are also unacceptable to Iran as these give an impression that US has an upper hand in the ME war which is contrary to the situation on the ground.
US and Israel had launched war on Iran on February 28 last and bombed Iran’s strategic assets across that country.
Iran has been retaliating to US -Israel attacks since the breakout of the war. Initially , Tehran suffered massive loss in the conflict as its main leadership including military top generals were targeted by US-Israel. US -Israel attacks also killed Iran’s Supreme Leader , Ayotullah Ali Khamenei , as well as more than four dozens other top decision-makers . However , Iran not only faced US-Israel attacks with great courage , but also responded to the enemy’s continuous airstrikes on military and civilian targets.
Now after three and half weeks of the ME war , US bases in ME stand battered and Israel seems on edge as Iran’s ballistic missiles and drones are hitting at its military and strategic assets.
Iran has also caused huge losses to US forces in ME and forces its aircraft carriers to run out of the war zone after getting targeted by Iran in the sea waters.
Iran is getting edge over US and Israel and for the same it , according to its state TV , rejected US plan for end to the ME war.
Iran’s hard position may make Islamabad and other negotiators job difficult. It can also turn the ME war more deadly as US and Israel could go to maximum to regain ground in the ME war and force Iran to come to the negotiations on their terms.
