ISLAMABAD : August 11, 2022. Is the situation reverting to those days when Tehreek e Taliban Pakistan (TTP) had a parallel rule in many parts of the Khyber Pukhtunkhaw (KPK) and finally the military had to launch an operation cleanup in disturbed areas of the Pak-Afghan bordering province, to flush out terror and provide a peaceful environment to live there.
Then the people of Dir, Swat and many other areas had to displace for months during the military operation against TTP . The people in affected areas of KPK suffered massively in those times. They had to live away from their houses during anti TTP operation . At the end the people of the affected areas of KPK were happy as their hard days were over and the military operation to cleanse up TTP from KPK was a big success.
But what has went wrong again? Why TTP is resurging in the same areas of KPK from where it was uprooted some years ago?.
The people of many areas of KPK where TTP is resurging again are protesting against re-emergence of this menace of terror.
TTP has been a big challenge for Pakistan . It has managed to survive even when Pakistan had launched a full scale cleanse up operation against it . Its terrorists simply crossed over to Afghanistan to avoid loss in the military operation.
Afghanistan is a heaven for TTP and other groups involved in terror across the globe . Killing of Al-Qaeda top leader, Aamin uz Zauhri , in a drone attack and later killing or TTP wanted top terrorist , Omar Khalid Kharasani , are two examples of Afghanistan’s policy of promoting and protecting terror organisations.
The Taliban government in Afghanistan is not only promoting and protecting TTP, but sheltering it and permitting it to attack on Pakistan from Afghan soil.
Growing attacks of TTP in Pakistan are narrating the real story of Taliban government regarding its policy towards Pakistan.
Defence minister , Khawaja Asif’s statement of Thursday on the floor of the national assembly is more than a warning for security related departments of Pakistan. He conceded in his statement given on the floor of the national assembly that TTP’s resurgence in some areas of KPK has rang alarm bells. He also confirmed that the people of KPK were protesting against resurfacing of TTP in Dir , Swat and some other parts of KPK . Khawaja Asif also showed apprehensions about success of talks between Pakistan authorities and TTP. He told the house that the locals have closed trade entry point between Pakistan and Afghanistan over killing of a local leader of Jamiat e Ulema Islam (JUI) by TTP armed men. The minister said prime minister , Shahbaz Sharif , has constituted a 16-member Jirga (council of elders ) to talk with the people of KPK who are protesting against re-surfacing of TTP in some parts of KPK and also killing of JUI leader .
The Jirga comprising political elders of KPK based parties will hold talks with protesting people of the province and try to persuade them to end blockade of trade route between Pakistan and Afghanistan.
