Ishaq Dar leaving for Qatar today to woo investment in energy,other sectors

Mr Dar likely to offer control of Karachi, Islamabad airports to Qatar

ISLAMABAD : Jan 22,2023: Finance minister , Ishaq Dar , is scheduled to leave for Qatar on a 2-day crucial visit.

Sources told NEWSMAN that Finance minister , Ishaq Dar ,will have discussion with top Qatari authorities on investment in key sectors of Pakistan. Pakistan is looking forward to invite Qatar to invest in many important areas of its economy. It needs investment of billions of dollars in energy and several other areas. Since Pakistan is facing acute financial constraints its looking towards its friends like Qatar to come forward and invest in its different important areas of the economy to help it overcome its financial woes.

Qatar has already intended to invest in Pakistan’s energy sector . The Finance minister will offer Bhiki and Haveli Bahadur Shah power plants to Qatar during his visit to that country .

Qatar has also expressed its willingness to takeover adminstrative control of Karachi and Islamabad airports . Finance minister, Ishaq Dar, will discuss modalities with Qatari authorities for bringing investment from Qatar.

The sale of shares of state owned Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) and Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) will also become a point of discussion during Ishaq Dar’s visit to Qatar .
